Front and Rear Crush Zones The front and rear crush zones absorb energy and minimize the amount of impact energy that enters the passenger cabin during moderate-to-severe full-frontal and offset-frontal impacts Dual Side-Impact Door Beams The dual side-impact door beams help provide protection in a side impact. Traction Control System (TCS) The 3.0L model features a standard Honda electronic Traction Control Sysytem (TCS). Working with the ABS sensors and the electronic control unit (ECU), TCS monitors front-wheel slippage. If detected, TCS activates one or more brake calipers to slow the spinning wheel to regain traction. TCS also helps maintain stability when starting out on surfaces with split coeffice of friction. Rigid Unit-Body Construction The Accord's body design plays a key role in helping achieve it's exceptional rigidity and enviable safety rating. It also helps minimize noise and vibration, and even contributes to the Accord's enhanced ride and handling characteristics. For this generation Honda Accord engineers have increased the body's torsional rigidity a significant 27% while maintaining the excellent bending rigidity of the previous generation. |
All 2005 Accord models come equipped with larger dual-stage front airbags (SRS) while the 2.0L leather model and the 3.0L model also come with expanded coverage front side airbags. An anti-lock braking system (ABS) is standard on all models to help the driver retain steering control when braking hard. The 3.0L model has a Traction Control Sysem (TCS) the uses the ABS wheel-speed sensors and help optimize traction at speeds up to 50 mph. Safety Equipment: Dual Stage Front Airbags (SRS) In the event of a moderate-to-severe frontal-impact, the dual-stage front airbags inflate and deflate in a fraction of a second, and are designed to help prevent serious head and upper-body injuries. 3 Point Seat Belts Front and rear 3-point seat belts ride across the lap and chest and help restrain occupants during sudden stops or impact. Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) An anti-lock braking system is standard on all Accord models. It helps the driver retain steering control during hard braking. Front Side Airbags In the event of a moderate-to-severe side impact, the Side Airbags inflates to help protect the driver's or front passenger's upper body. Plus, the Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) utilizes sensors in the front passenger's seatback to detect the height and seating position of the occupant. If a child or small-statured adult is leaning into the deployment path of the side airbag, sensors deactivate it. .
